International Maritime Organization (IMO) delegation, consisting of Member States representatives, visited the ports of the Danube cluster and Big Odesa
From April 16th to April 18th, representatives from Estonia, Lithuania, the Republic of Moldova and Belgium visited the ports of Izmail, Pivdennyi, and Odesa. They familiarized themselves with the consequences of russian terrorism and witnessed damaged and destroyed objects of port infrastructure.
During a roundtable discussion, attended by the Deputy Minister for Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine Yurii Vaskov, the CEO of SE "USPA" Yurii Lytvyn, the State Service for Maritime, Inland Waterway Transport and Shipping of Ukraine represented by Yevhenii Ihnatenko, the State Hydrographic Service represented by Oleksandr Boyko, the Ukrainian ShipRegister represented by Serhii Hurskyi, and other representatives of the maritime community, a package of proposals for providing international technical assistance to support the work of Ukraine's maritime sector and its recovery in the post-war period was thoroughly discussed.
Over the past two years, Ukraine has strengthened its export routes and increased export volumes:
- approximately 40 million tons of cargo has been exported via the Ukrainian Corridor, of which 27 million tons are agricultural products,
- the ports of the Danube cluster handled 5.7 million tons of cargo within the first quarter of 2024, of which 4.4 million tons - export.
The CEO of "USPA" Yurii Lytvyn emphasized that our top priorities are to support the operation of the Ukrainian Corridor, rebuild port infrastructure, and digitalize all processes in the ports.
The Ukrainian side thanked our international partners for their support and assistance to Ukraine and expressed its hope for further fruitful cooperation.
