The Odesa Branch of the State Enterprise «Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority» strengthens cooperation with international partners in the field of medical support

Representatives of the international humanitarian organization Project HOPE Ukraine, headed by Caine Anthony Cortellino, Program Director of the Emergency Assistance for Conflict-Affected Populations (EACAP) Program implemented with the support from the U.S. Government, visited the Odesa branch of the SE «USPA».

On behalf of the management of the Odesa branch of the SE “USPA”, the guests were welcomed by Vladyslav Lytvyn, Deputy Head of the Odesa Sea Port Authority, and Zhanna Putiienko, Chief Physician of the Medical and Sanitary Unit (MSU).

The initiative to establish cooperation with the international humanitarian organization originated from the management of the Odesa branch of the SE “USPA”, which had previously approached Project HOPE to consider providing charitable medical assistance in order to ensure an appropriate level of medical support for port employees under martial law conditions in Ukraine.

During the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation in medical support for port employees, as well as the possibility of providing charitable assistance for the modernization of the material and technical base of the MSU.

As part of the visit, representatives of Project HOPE learned about the priority needs of the MSU, the operation of the MSU during the period of martial law, and its technical capabilities.

— Under martial law conditions, the workload on the port’s MSU has increased significantly. Our medical staff provide round-the-clock assistance to port employees and vessel crews, conduct examinations and medical check-ups. Today, it is especially important to ensure access to modern diagnostic equipment and the opportunity to receive prompt medical care. We are grateful to our international partners for their support and willingness to assist Ukraine’s port industry, —noted Vladyslav Lytvyn.
