BLS Training for Medical and Sanitary Unit Staff: Skills That Can Save Lives
Employees of the Medical and Sanitary Unit of the Odesa Branch of SE «Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority» took part in a Basic Life Support training course focused on basic life support for adults.
The training was supported by Project HOPE Ukraine and conducted with the participation of the Public Organization «All-Ukrainian Resuscitation Council».
During the one-day training, 16 participants practiced essential skills for responding to medical emergencies, including assessing the condition of a casualty, calling emergency medical services, performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation and using an automated external defibrillator.
Particular attention was paid to hands-on practice using specialized manikins and training equipment, enabling participants to act quickly, systematically, and confidently in a real-life emergency.
Upon completion of the training, all participants received BLS certificates with individual registration numbers in the system of the European Resuscitation Council. The certificates are valid for two years.
The training was a continuation of the cooperation between the Odesa Branch of SE “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority” and Project HOPE Ukraine. In May, representatives of the organization visited the Odesa Branch of SE “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority” and held a meeting with the port management.
-Knowledge of resuscitation is especially important when every minute counts. However, knowledge alone is not enough — regular practice is essential to ensure that a person can act quickly, clearly, and confidently in a critical situation.
