Blood donor day in Odesa Branch of SE "USPA"
The decision to become a blood donor is considered as one of the highest expressions of kindness and humanity, as donated blood is intended to save someone’s life. Another blood donation day took place at the Odesa seaport. Employees of the Odesa branch of the SE «Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority» (Odesa seaport authority), along with workers from the port’s partner stevedoring companies, participated in the voluntary blood donation campaign. The actual blood sampling procedure was carried out by specialists from the regional blood transfusion station. The organization and safety measures during the event were handled by the Odesa branch of SE "USPA"
— There has always been a critical need for blood components in Ukraine’s healthcare institutions,- said Zhanna Putienko, PhD in Medicine and chief physician of the medical unit. - With the start of the full-scale war, this issue has become even more urgent. In wartime, when large supplies of blood components are needed to save wounded soldiers and civilians affected by missile and artillery strikes, every visit to a mobile blood donation point becomes a patriotic act.
The Odesa seaport authority extends its gratitude to all port workers who regularly donate a part of themselves to save others, as well as to those who found the courage to do it for the first time.
